Welcome to Greenlake

Located in north-central Seattle, Greenlake is a vibrant urban village just minutes from Downtown where streets are lined with boutique shops, small businesses, and a variety of restaurants. The centerpiece of this residential neighborhood is a 259-acre freshwater lake surrounded by a bustling public park. Originally formed by a glacial ice sheet centuries ago, Green Lake Park now serves as a natural preserve for hundreds of plant species and wildlife, including waterfowl, turtles, and toads. It also offers extensive amenities for visitors, including athletic fields, swimming beaches, and boating access points. A 2.8-mile path encircling the lake is popular with runners, cyclists, and skaters, making it one of the city's premier recreation areas.

In addition to the park’s year-round activities, the neighborhood offers unique cultural and historical attractions. A former lakeside bathhouse was transformed into the Seattle Public Theater in 1988, hosting a variety of performances and events. The Green Lake Library, a designated Seattle landmark since its opening in 1910, adds to the area’s historical charm. The residential streets are lined with boutique shops, small businesses, and an array of restaurants.

Greenlake’s population grew significantly in the mid-1990s, thanks to widespread redevelopment that saw many homes expanded or remodeled, giving the neighborhood’s real estate market its distinctive charm. Despite ongoing new developments, Greenlake remains less densely populated than Downtown Seattle. Its convenient access to I-5 and proximity to public transportation make it an attractive option for professionals commuting to Downtown, just six miles away.
